A Warm Welcome

Deep concern about fuel poverty this winter has led to a national campaign to offer warm places of welcome in community buildings - www.warmwelcome.uk/

As part of this campaign, Churches Together in Clevedon is supporting with many of our local churches offering not just a warm friendly welcome but hospitality in a safe setting to those who may have to choose between ‘heating and eating’ in the coming months.

The following churches have arranged to offer a warm space for people to use:

  • Clevedon Baptist Church, Station Road – CBC Warm Bank – every Monday between 10am and 4pm.
  • Kenn Road Methodist church, Kenn Road – Mondays 10am to 12 noon
  • Christchurch, Chapel Hill – Wednesdays
  • St Andrews, Old Church Road – Fridays from 11am

Council-Supported Public Living Rooms

North Somerset Council and North Somerset Together Network are working together to develop a network of public living rooms across the area in a bid to help people keep warm this winter. The sorts of venues that might be suitable for hosting public living rooms include community buildings, sports venues, places of worship, libraries and any organisation willing to make a space available for people to use. To enable public living rooms to be set up or maintained, grants of up to £1,000 are available to organisations in North Somerset. The grants are funded by North Somerset Council, supported by Alliance Homes.

Applications will be accepted from North Somerset agencies and community-led organisations delivering services for people in North Somerset. For further information, on these grants in North Somerset and how to join the Public Living Room spaces directory – please complete this form. Grants provide a contribution towards the creation and improvement of Public Living Rooms for local communities.
